Select 100% New Zealand Wool for its resilience, natural sheen, and rich take on colour; Wool Blend is also available on selected pieces.

The wool is dyed to our colours, skein by skein, so every tone is rich, true and colourfast.

Each design is scaled up and traced onto the backing cloth by hand — the map every piece is built from. Because it's worked from the back, the whole design is drawn in mirror.

Strand by strand, the wool is punched through the backing with a hand-held tufting tool. The entire surface is built by hand, one pass at a time — outline first, then filled.

Loop and cut pile are worked side by side — matte against sheen, firm against soft — building the colour blocks and the first hint of dimension.

From the back, a secure backing is worked deep into the roots so every strand is locked in place, then a second backing is married on for strength and stability — the difference between a piece that lasts and one that sheds.

The pile is sheared to an even height by hand — the groundwork that makes the surface read clean before any relief is carved.

Then the relief is carved by hand — high and low, ridge and valley, channels cut between the shapes — so light gathers in the ridges and shadow pools in the valleys. This is the step that makes it sculptural, and the hardest to do well.

Every edge is bound by hand, one stitch at a time — including the organic, cut-out shapes a machine can't finish. The quiet detail that separates a finished piece from a raw one.

Steam and a brush raise and set the pile, so the surface stands even and full, and the carving reads crisp.

Finally it's washed and dried flat — clearing loose fibre and settling the wool, so the piece arrives soft, clean and ready to live with.

Before it leaves the studio, each piece is inspected by hand — then we photograph your actual piece and send you the photo, so you see it before it ships.
